Accounts Receivable Specialist

JOB SUMMARY: The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for follow up and collection of all patient accounts from admission to discharge and final resolution of accounts. Other duties will include billing and cash posting responsibilities. The AR Specialist must: work reports of outstanding unbilled insurance and patient balances, contact appropriate parties to resolve any issues delaying payment, review new admissions, assure patient billing information is accurate, handle all aspects of the billing process, ensure all bills are filed correctly, document all billing methods, and work with staff to ensure accurate and timely entry of all billing information. The AR specialist is also responsible for all follow up regarding billing and the records of payments for all types of cliental with Epworth Children’s Home. In additional to client billing, the AR specialist will prepare tax documents, billing for government grants, assist with payroll as needed, and prepare the quarterly reports.

QUALIFICATIONS: Two years Accounts Receivable experience required, healthcare billing experience preferred.  Associates degree in Business Administration/Accounting preferred, or equivalent work experience with high school diploma may be substituted. Knowledge of Medicaid, Healthy Choices, and other third party billing processes. Experience with automated billing systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS: Excellent customer service, written communication skills, and problem solving skills. Must be able to adapt to rapidly changing demands of the position, customer needs and the organization. Knowledge of: financial database management systems. IDC 10, CPT, HCPCS coding, UB and HCFA billing, knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial, HMP and PPO insurance, strong attention to detail. Must be able to pass standard background checking, including: drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
