The Grant Writer will persuasively and consistently communicate the mission of Epworth and its programs to potential funders. The Grant Writer is primarily responsible for writing grant proposals to government agencies, foundations, and grantmaking organizations to support existing and planned program activities. The Grant Writer will maintain a calendar of submissions and other deadlines and will ensure that these deadlines are communicated and met. The Grant Writer is also responsible for reporting on the performance of program activities funded by awarded grants and for prospecting additional funding opportunities.
Bachelors Degree in English, Journalism, or Communications and a minimum of 3 years experience. Superior knowledge of and proven experience writing proposals to large corporate, foundation and government donors and an understanding of technical and financial requirements for large grants. Demonstrated superior writing, research, project management, and organizational skills. Experience crafting concept papers, proposals, and stewardship materials with aptitude for creating budgets, designing logic models, and drafting compelling case statements.
The applicant should have the following: Ability to successfully execute multiple, simultaneous projects on time with quality results. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with staff. Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly, ask thoughtful questions and synthesize information. Experience in tracking communication and donor activity. Ability to attend fundraising activities as needed.
Must be able to pass standard background checking, including drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
