Meet Our Counselors – Midlands
Haley Buzzetti
Haley Buzzetti, MA, LPC-A, works at Epworth’s Midlands Center for Counseling. She holds a masters in forensic psychology from Arizona State University and a masters in clinical mental health counseling from South University. She has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various settings, including intensive in-home care and inpatient facilities. She has extensive education, training, and experience working with individuals with trauma, anxiety, depression, and addiction. She works from a cognitive-behavioral and person-centered approach utilizing and focusing on each person’s innate strengths and abilities to guide their treatment. She has been married for three years and enjoys yoga, hiking, and cuddling up with her two dogs and cats at home with a good book to read.
Dr. Katherine DeWitt
Dr. Katherine DeWitt, LPC/S works at Epworth’s Midlands Center for Counseling in Columbia. Raised in East Texas, Katherine moved to South Carolina to pursue her PhD in counselor education at the University of South Carolina. Katherine has a master’s degree in community counseling with experience working with adolescents and young adults in crisis, serving as a case manager for a drug court intervention program. She has also worked with individuals with depression, anxiety, and addiction. Katherine approaches clinical work from the person-centered modality, helping clients heal through a journey of developing personal congruence and acceptance. In addition to her work as a clinician, she is an assistant professor of clinical mental health counseling, teaching the next generation of mental health professionals.
Dr. Aubrey Sejuit
Dr. Aubrey L. Sejuit, PhD, LISW-CP, LPC-A, LCAS, MEd, works at Epworth Counseling Center in Columbia, SC. Raised in Pennsylvania, Dr. Sejuit holds undergraduate degrees (A.A. Letters, Arts, and Sciences, B.A. Sociology, and B.A. History) along with a graduate degree (M.Ed. Teaching and Curriculum) from Penn State University. She also holds an A.A.S. in Intelligence Operations Studies from Cochise College, an MSW from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the University of South Carolina. She is the former President of the National Association of Social Workers-South Carolina (NASW-SC), former Secretary of the South Carolina Counseling Association (SCCA), and Co-Founder and former Secretary of the Friends of Fisher House-Columbia, SC. The Assistant Volunteer and Events Coordinator for the 9/11 Remembrance Foundation of South Carolina, Dr. Sejuit is an Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) combat veteran who served with the 203D MI BN in the 513th MI BDE (INSCOM) in Baghdad, Iraq as an Intelligence Analyst. She is married to Matthew D. Sejuit, who is a two-time OIF combat veteran who served in Iraq and the Battle of An Nasiriyah with the 1st BN, 2nd Marines as a Corpsman. Dr. Sejuit specializes in addictions, career counseling, and veterans affairs.for two adults

Dr. Susanne Thurber
Dr. Susanne Thurber, LPC is the Director of the Epworth Center for Counseling in Anderson. Susanne has worked in the mental health field for 24 years (licensed for 22 years). Originally from Texas, her experience includes working with children, teens, and adults in multiple settings including education, residential treatment, community mental health agencies, and private practice. Susanne uses an integrated approach to treatment, basing therapeutic interventions on each client’s clinical needs and personal preferences. She places a high degree of importance on the therapeutic relationship providing a safe space for clients to gain insight, heal, and find happiness. She believes that instilling real hope is key to therapeutic progress. Susanne is trained in a number of evidence-based practices to include Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Gottman 1 &2, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Susanne has lived and studied internationally and genuinely enjoys being a therapist, helping people achieve their goals, and improve their lives. Susanne also loves teaching/training and developing mental health programming.
