Residential Program

Serving Children, Youth & Families

For more than a century, Epworth’s Residential Program has been a place of safety, healing, and renewal in the heart of Columbia, South Carolina. Since 1896, we’ve remained committed to nurturing children and youth through compassionate, individualized care.

Designed to feel like home, our program welcomes youth ages 12–18 who have experienced trauma or instability such as grief, loss, neglect, homelessness, family crisis, or abuse.

Using a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach, we care for the whole child — physically, emotionally, educationally, and spiritually. Services include individual and family counseling, life skills development, academic support, and spiritual mentorship, all designed to strengthen relationships, promote healing, and build resilience.

Placement Information

Children are placed at Epworth through Private Placements (initial referral could be by family, pastors, or school counselors) or Public Placements (referred by SCDSS and other government agencies). During private placements, legal guardians retain custody and may request reunification at any time.

We understand families often reach out during moments of need and we are here to help provide stability, structure, and hope.

For placement questions or pre-screening, call our Admissions Department at (803) 748-2815.
