Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing

The experience and knowledge gained through Epworth’s 120-year ministry has enabled us to see firsthand emerging changes in the landscape of child welfare. This perspective helps us plan and evolve to effectively to meet the needs of children and families in South Carolina.  Our Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing addresses some of the most pressing child welfare and family needs.

The Institute is comprised of multiple centers of excellence that address various needs in our state. It is headquartered on the Epworth’s Trenholm Road campus, (he former campus of Carolina Children’s Home in Columbia).  In cooperation with the South Carolina Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, the Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty, and other partners, the Institute serves cities and communities across South Carolina.
