Epworth’s Family Resource Connection and Preservation Services (FRCPS) program partners with families in their homes or community-based settings to promote the safety, stability, and well-being of children from birth to age 17. The program is designed to strengthen family systems, reduce child welfare risk factors, and support long-term family success.
Families involved with or at risk of involvement with the Department of Social Services (DSS) are referred to FRCPS to address the underlying challenges that may impact child safety and family stability. The goal is to resolve concerns and prevent deeper involvement in the child welfare system.
FRCPS offers individualized support based on each family’s needs. Services may include parenting education and coaching, crisis stabilization, support for substance use disorders, access to concrete resources, and more. Central to the program is Motivational Interviewing—a collaborative, evidence-based approach that empowers individuals to set and achieve personal goals by tapping into their own motivation for change.
Each family works with a dedicated FRCPS Specialist 1–3 times per week on goals outlined in a customized Family Service Plan. Services take place in the family’s natural environment, allowing for meaningful assessment and hands-on skill-building. Program duration ranges from a minimum of 60 days to a maximum of 6 months, depending on progress and need.
Epworth provides FRCPS in South Carolina’s Upstate, Midlands, and Pee Dee regions.
