The Epworth Children’s Home Alumni Association will celebrate its annual homecoming weekend on June 25-26, 2016 at Epworth. The gathering brings generations of Epworth residents together to nurture relationships through the sharing of meals, telling stories and supporting their fellow “Epworth brothers and sisters.”
At each of the weekend events, there will be a silent auction to raise additional funds for the care of today’s Epworth residents. The two-day event kicks off at 11:00am on Saturday, June 25 with a hot dog lunch followed by a fish-fry at 5:00pm.
Then on Sunday, the alumni will gather for worship at 11:00am at the church, where the special guest speaker will be the Rev. Jim Hunter. Rev. Hunter served as the Epworth campus pastor from 1996-2005. Now retired as a Methodist clergy and living in North Carolina, Rev. Hunter considers his time at Epworth some of the most meaningful years of his ministry.
Following the worship, the alumni will share a covered dish meal at 12:00pm, followed by a memorial service and the annual meeting of the alumni association. During the meeting, the alumni association will present Epworth with a check for the proceeds from this year’s Cookout for Kids, held in April.
All former residents of Epworth are invited to attend. For more information please visit epworthchildrenshome.org/alumni/ or contact the alumni association at epworthalumniassociation@gmail.com.
